Yucca Valley's eight new pickleball courts are officially complete

YUCCA VALLEY — The Town Council has signed off on the new pickleball courts at the Yucca Valley Community Center, accepting the work as substantially complete at its September 15 meeting.
The project delivered eight pickleball courts, a shade structure with seating, and an extended and fully resurfaced parking lot, all lit with new LED lighting. San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe joined town officials for a ribbon-cutting in early September.
The courts were funded in part by $1.6 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act money secured by Rowe, whose Third District includes Yucca Valley.
The original construction contract with Van Engineering Inc. was $2,544,825. The final cost came in at $3,463,366 after ten change orders and related expenses — including $111,420.25 in state fish and wildlife permit fees for the removal and relocation of western Joshua trees on the construction site.
