New County Fire station in Yucca Valley could break ground early next year
Written with AIPlans are approved for the replacement station; the 1959 building becomes an admin and emergency operations hub.
YUCCA VALLEY — San Bernardino County Fire's long-planned new station in Yucca Valley is moving toward construction, with groundbreaking realistically expected in the first quarter of 2027 and a 12-to-18-month build to follow.
Assistant Chief Bill Villarino told the Yucca Valley Town Council that plans for the station are approved. The current station dates to 1959; once the new building opens, the old station becomes an administrative building with a training room that doubles as the town's emergency operations center.
At its September 22 meeting, the county Board of Supervisors granted Southern California Gas an easement across the fire district's Joshua Lane property to bring natural gas service to the new station site.
The station project has been in the works for years. With plans now approved and utility access lined up, the department says construction is finally within sight.
